Staunton and Corse
Early Years

At Staunton and Corse Early Years we acknowledge the role that the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) plays in laying the secure foundations for future learning and development of life skills. We feel it is important to view the EYFS as preparation for life and not simply preparation for the next stage of education. As outlined in the EYFS,

‘Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the Early Years and a child's experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.’

  • provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age.
  • work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop.
  • add to the life and well-being of the local community.
  • offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity.

You are regarded as members of our setting who have full participatory rights. These include a right to be:

  • valued and respected
  • kept informed
  • consulted
  • involved
  • included at all levels

As a registered charity, we also depend on the good will of parents and their involvement to keep going. Membership of the setting carries expectations on you for your support and commitment.

Welcome Letter from the Staff and Committee

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Staunton and Corse Early Years. As a new/prospective parent/carer, we would like to inform you about our setting, so you are able to understand a little bit about how we run.

We are open Monday to Friday during term time from 8am until 3.00pm. We offer places for 2, 3 and 4-year olds and are able to offer places for 15 hour and 30 funding. We are based at Staunton and Corse C of E Academy and this allows us to create close links with the school. We regularly participate in shared classroom with the reception children and this allows familiarity with the Reception classroom and teaching staff. The preschool children then move seamlessly into school from Early Years.

You will receive a monthly newsletter which will detail what we are doing and the help we require. In addition to this, you can keep up to date with news, events and information by ‘liking’ our Facebook page, and current parents will also be invited to join our Secret Facebook group to help keep you up to date with activities going on within Early Years. This page is also used to remind parents and carers of events that are happening. Please feel free to comment on and share our posts as this all helps promote us.

We are parent committee run with five trustees who employee the staff that you will meet on a daily basis. As Staunton and Corse Early Years is a charity, we rely on the support of parents when we organise fundraising events for its continued survival. The funding we receive each term cover staffing costs and other essential running costs such as rent, snack and insurance but there is also the need to keep all our resources including toys and educational supplies updated. We would very much appreciate any help you are able to offer.

If you would be interested in joining the Committee, please complete the attached ‘Parent Helper’ form at the back of this pack. We are always looking for new members with fresh ideas for fundraising events.

If you have any questions please speak to a member of staff, they will also be able to put you in contact with a member of the committee.

We look forward to your support and hope that you child’s time at Staunton and Corse Early Years are a happy one for you and your child.

Many Thanks
